The AIDS/HIV ministry at GUMC is entering its fourteenth year. The goal is to research relevant sources and materials and go out into the community to help educate the community about the dangers of this growing plague. As the number of those affected continues to climb, especially among blacks, seniors, and women, it is our hope to reach our youth and try to save them from this deadly virus. If we reach just one, then our efforts will not have been in vain.
The purpose of our ministry is to:
Discuss how faith communities can address HIV issues with young people in their congregations.
Identify action steps faith communities and parents to re-engage sexually active young people who are at risk for HIV.
Network with faith and community based organizations that are working with young people and families impacted by HIV/AIDS.
